TRAINING and ASSESSMENT is available for Category 1 & 2 candidates
Category 1 – candidates who are currently OFTEC registered and wish to be re-assessed for the areas of work they are currently doing. This category can take the assessments without training. However, OFTEC recommends that technicians consider training to keep up to date with industry changes and developments.
Category 2 – candidates may already be plumbing or heating engineers, Gas Safe registered technicians or similar and have the skills and experience necessary to appreciate the concepts and principles of oil-fired heating systems. These candidates need to undertake training.
Category 3 – candidates are new entrants to the industry and have no prior experience or relevant skills who must undertake an extended period of on & off the job training & work experience.

- OFT10-101 – commission & service pressure-jet appliances.
The vast majority of household boilers fall into this category.
The course covers Health & Safety, fire valve installation, legislation & requirements, safe electrical installation, knowledge of oil storage & supply, appliance installation & heating systems, practical servicing & commissioning. - OFT10-105E – installation of oil-fired appliances.
The course covers Health & Safety, fire valve installation, legislation & requirements safe electrical installation, knowledge of oil storage & appliance installation & heating systems, energy efficiency. - OFT10-600a – installation of oil tanks and associated pipework & equipment.
